SELECTIVE CONSULTING & PROJECT COLLABORATION
Start with the interest, the record and the objective.
My professional focus draws on more than fifty years in oil and gas, from landwork and leasing to title, contracts and project development. I am interested in well-founded projects and transactions where a disciplined review of ownership, agreements, economics and responsibilities can move the work forward.
Mineral ownership, leasing and transactions
Work may begin with an ownership question, a lease or assignment, a proposed transaction, an estate inventory or a gap in the title record. The useful first step is to define the property interest and the decision that must be made.
Consulting interests include ownership and lease research, transaction due diligence, contract analysis, royalty reconciliation and coordination with appropriate legal, accounting, geological or engineering specialists.
Project development
I welcome discussions with owners, operators, investors and technical partners about the records, relationships and practical work needed to evaluate a development opportunity.
A project’s promise must be tested against its actual rights, technical evidence, costs, constraints and commercial terms.
Helium recovery and conservation
Helium recovery and conservation are longstanding interests, informed in part by my legal work involving the United States. I am interested in recovery opportunities, conservation, recycling and the responsible use of an essential resource.
Public education about helium’s importance is one part of this work. Evaluating a commercial project requires its own technical, economic and legal record.
Owner education and commissioned work
West Sussex’s public library begins with Wyoming mineral and royalty ownership. Its educational guides are available independently of a consulting engagement.
Paid work begins with a defined scope, responsibilities and compensation. West Sussex’s policy uses agreed monetary consulting fees rather than clients’ mineral or royalty ownership as compensation for those services.
